Skiing in Romania

Directly after New Year’s Eve we went to Brasov to go skiing! Together with some friends we brought our ski from Germany…at first by car to the airport in Munich, then by plane to Bucharest and finally by train to Brasov again…And then there was unfortunately not that much snow!!! Despite the knowledge of the non existing snow we went to the ski resort Poiana Brasov which is by bus 30 minutes from Brasov. There was only one slope open…the beginners slope! So we just bought a ticket for 7 rides per person and enjoyed the slope for 2 hours. It was fun but the next time we wanted to be better prepared.Poiana Brasov - Beginners slope

In Romania there are many ski resorts. And they have black, red and blue slopes, Snowparks and Pipes so everybody can find something!

The Skiresorts which are easily to reach from Bucharest are the ones in Sinaia, Busteni, Predeal and Poiana Brasov. They are all lying alongside the train route to Brasov. You just have to take a personal or accetelerat train. On the website www.skiinfo.com you can get the first information about the resorts. How many slopes and which level and length they are.

Also really useful is the information about how much snow is in the resort and how many slopes are open for public. This you can find on the website: http://www.ski-in-romania.com

Additionally looking on the webcams of the resorts is useful to see the weather conditions as well.Sinaia

If you don’t have your ski or snowboard with you there is everywhere possibilities to rent the equipment for around 30 Lei per day. The prizes for the different ski resorts are varying depending if it is a big resort or if all of the lifts belong to one company. Compared to Austria, Switzerland and Italy the prizes are quiet well.

So, enjoy your winter trip in Romania!
